About Our Herd

Our herd started from cows from Hooper Herefords out of Springerville, AZ. At the time the herd was already a 30 year old herd. There were a few different genetic pools that were introduced into the herd through-out the years.

In 2004, after winning the Reserve Championship, the Hutchens Herefords herd became a closed herd. Natural service of the herd was provided with Prospector 152, Kreedence, and Easy Deal. An additional AI Sire, Legend 242, has been used for breeding in the herd.

In 2008, H Easy Deal 609 ET won the 2008 National Champion. Our herd is a line bred herd using the 4 herd bulls and young bulls that are offspring from those 4 bulls.

Hutchens Herefords herd has not purchased an outside cow for over 14 years.
