About our Heifers

Because the cattle are known for being easy-keepers and good producers, Hutchens Herefords was asked to participate in the KazBeef Ltd venture which will eventually supply two 2,500-head cow-calf operations and a 5,000 head feedlot to help re-establish the cattle industry in Kazakhstan. The herds will create a foundation of seed stock for the county and offspring will eventually be sold to individuals who want to create their own herds. Hutchens Herefords had twenty cattle on the first shipments to Kazakhstan in 2010, a 23 hour flight. The second shipment of 35 head of bred heifers was made the end of September, 2011. Hutchens will have the opportunity to provide cattle over the next ten years for this project.

While the recognition of his program is important, Lee is excited about the potential this project has to create future cattlemen and cattlewomen. Always remembering his own inspirations and beginnings, Lee has consistently supported the youth of the industry. Hutchens has made steers available for 4-H and FFA kids interested in pursuing similar dreams and has bought project animals at the local sales. As a lifelong rancher, Hutchens has a vested interest in the future of ranching in our country and the world. He hopes to be a part of creating a future where it will continue to be possible for people to make their living ranching and farming. This has become especially important because his oldest grandson, Cole, age 10, spends summers in Austin and already knows that he wants to be a farmer and rancher when he grows up. If all goes well, Lee and Cole hope to join a load of cattle on one of those 23 hour flights to Kazakhstan. Not only would this be a wonderful opportunity to see a bit more of the world, but also an opportunity to see Hutchens Herefords in a new place in the world.

All these Ladies are daughters or granddaughters of D&M 53H Kreedence 003 K. The calves were sired by H Easy Deal, LBH Legend 602, or UPH Prospector P152
